Anthony Kiedis Opens Up About Being A Father

Anthony Kiedis opened up about the name that he and his girlfriend chose for their son…Everly Bear.
“We had a long list of names, but suppose it came to me by way of the Everly Brothers, which is one of my favorite bands,” the Red Hot Chili Peppers singer said at a fundraiser for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in LA. “And sometimes last names make good first names.”
Anthony’s girlfriend Heather Christie came up with the rest. “The mama came up with Bear,” Anthony says. “That made sense to me because he’s from me and I feel like I’m part of the bear clan, and I think it’s nice to have a little bit of earth in your name.”
Anthony and Heather, a model, welcomed their son on on October 2nd in LA.
“Being a father is different, it’s much different,” Anthony says. “I sleep when I can, but he’s letting me off pretty easy so far. He’s a very calm and peaceful kid.”

Oh Anthony how I do love you, but that name… oh my. Garbage is one of my favorite bands but I assure you I won’t be naming my kid that. Nor will I name him or her after a pepper. But BEAR??? Where’s Yogi? Seriously Apple doesn’t sound so bad now.
I’m very happy for them though.

Everly does sound like it would be better suited to a girl… sounds feminine to me. Bear seems more suited to a housepet.

I love the name. I think that it is personal to them. People who wrote about Yogi bear and all that are ignorant. Anthony is an individualist and a beautiful artist, I hope his child will be the same.
