Unless parents are aware of the affects violence has on children, parents are unable to make and informed decision. I fully support openness with children. I do not believe in sheltering either of my children, but sheltering and protecting are two different things. I am most concerned about video games and the amount of parents who use the television as a babysitter. There is nothing wrong iwth putting a movie on when mom is trying to tidy up the house or make a phone call, but this is often overused. Awareness and Censorship are two different things. Although I must admit, I do watch a lot of films/movies on DVD and occasionally a really good TV series on DVD...like Dexter or The Sopranos. 2teens that is exactly my way of thinking too. I actually think that cartoon violence is harmless, but that the more realistic violence can be harmful to the younger kids who are not capable of understanding that its not real. I do think it's up to the parents to monitor what young kids watch. I am anti-censorship as a rule. My two kids are much older than many of the posters here and I let them watch what they want and read what they want. If they have questions about anything I am always as honest with them as possible. Matt’s mom seems like a real go-getter.

I had no idea what Matt's mom did. I have a hard time picturing anyone but Damon playing Bourne, though. Media is very violent for children and raising awareness needs to happen.
