An Expectant Minnie Driver Performs For Crowd In London

Minnie Driver

While the ladies of Sex and the City celebrated their world premiere, an expectant Minnie Driver was just around the corner, playing to a much smaller crowd.

The singer-songwriter took to the stage at the intimate Art’s Theatre in London’s Leicester Square to perform songs from her second album, Seastories.

Dressed in a one-shouldered black dress, the six-months-pregnant Minnie went on at 8:45 p.m., about 15 minutes behind schedule. “Sorry I’m late,” she told the crowd. “I had to pee. I always have to pee at the moment.”

The 38-year-old has kept mum about the identity of the baby’s father – but she chatted openly with the crowd about the real-life inspiration for her songs. (Minnie also joked that she was merely “famous for being pregnant.”) And, as she played, she regularly tapped her bump in time with the music.

“I write [songs] in ’splurts,’ ” she said. “Like hitting a ketchup bottle, eventually something will come out – splat.”

For her encore, Minnie performed “Ruby Adeline,” which she wrote as a serenade for a pregnant friend. “This is for all the pregnant ladies in the house,” she said, “for anyone else who’s knocked up.”

Ever notice how she has the toilet talk of a 3 yr old? She is going to be a wonderful example for her kid when it starts talking. Why does she reduce herself to that? Lauren, if everyone who has ever been pregnant knows it, then why say it?
