Australian Swimmer Susie Maroney Welcomes Her First Child
July 1st, 2008

Australian marathon swimmer Susie Maroney, 33, has welcomed her first child - a baby girl she has named Paris.
Susie had a c-section at the local Sutherland Hospital.
Her mother Pauline said that her darling grandchild had brought sunshine into the whole Maroney family.
“She’s my 11th grandchild actually but special because Susie has been through so much and suffered her miscarriages,” Mrs. Maroney said.
It is not known whether Susie reunited with her estranged banker husband Rob Daniels for the baby’s birth.
Their separation, when Susie was eight months’ pregnant, devastated the swimmer, who moved into her mother’s Cronulla, New South Wales beachfront home to prepare for the life as a single mother.
“I just need to stop crying and get everything ready,” Susie said.
“That’s my main priority now.”
Susie named her child Paris, not after the party princess, but the city of lights where she celebrated one of her many ocean feats.
It is a reminder of the her 1991 accomplishment when she set the fastest time by a woman for the double-crossing of the English Channel.
Congratulations!
