Minnie Driver Wants Her Baby’s Gender To Be A Surprise
July 11th, 2008

Minnie Driver doesn’t want to find out if she is expecting a son or a daughter…she wants to be surprised.
“I’m old-fashioned,” Minnie, 38, said at the New York press junket for her new film Take.
“Women for thousands of years have not found out,” she said. “I couldn’t base something that was so auspicious and beautiful of that moment, and take away the surprise for home décor.”
Her family and friends, however, can’t stop speculating.
“They say you lose your sweet tooth, which apparently means it’s a boy, but I’m convinced the baby is a girl,” said Minnie. “I’ve kind of lost my sweet tooth, but my mum is like, ‘No, you’re fat like I was, and I only had girls.’ She meant thick in my waist!”
Minnie has also experienced some unique cravings during her pregnancy. “I’ve been addicted to green foods,” she shared. “Green apples are probably the highest priority on my list. They are my complete obsession. I have a refrigerator full of them.”
Despite initially suffering from some morning sickness, Minnie says that her pregnancy has been “very easy. It’s been very peaceful, finally, when the nausea went away. That was the worst part: the sickness. It was hardcore.”
Will the delivery be as easy? Minnie hopes so, but she has opted to give birth naturally. “I’m totally the crunchy, Mother Earth-type, and I’m not looking for any type of intervention,” she said. “So I’m afraid.”
In the final stretch of her pregnancy Minnie has been playing music for her baby. “I play the guitar a lot, so the baby gets a lot of guitar,” said Minnie. “I think it likes it. It moves around a lot.”
Minnie already feels close to her baby through her dreams. “The baby told me their favorite color was green,” she said. “Maybe that’s why I like green food so much. It’s weird.”

OK……
Everyone lets talk about how less of a woman she is since she said she was afraid. Please make sure to give it to her like the Jamie Lynn thread when she said she was nervous and afraid…….
GO!!…………

Not every woman who wants to find out the sex prior to delivery wants to do so because of “home decor”. I found that to be a bit presumptuous on her part.
My husband and I wanted to find out before hand, and it had nothing to do with decorating taste.

I ate loads of green apples during my first pregnancy and had a girl – back in the dark ages when most women didn’t know what they were having since ultrasounds cost so much. No wonder health insurance costs have risen.

I think it is great to be surprised…one of the last true surprises that one can experience.

I agree with joyfullymine. After the hard work of labor and delivery, it’s nice to have an “old-fashioned” surprise. The whole family shares in the speculation and the reveal that comes with the big event.
