Country star Dierks Bentley, 32, and wife Cassidy, 33, welcomed their first child, Evalyn Day Bentley, just before midnight on Saturday at a hospital in Nashville, where the Bentleys live.

The new arrival weighed 7 lbs., 10 oz., and the happy parents say they’ll call her “Evie.”

Dierk’s publicist said Dierk – who announced his wife’s pregnancy in May (“Cass’s eggo is preggo!” he blogged) – is overjoyed by the prospect of fatherhood.

“She is the most beautiful little girl you have ever seen,” Dierk said. “Cass did great, and I’m so happy!”

Dierk met his future wife when she was Cassidy Black – and they were both in the eighth grade at middle school in Phoenix, the Dierk’s hometown.
