Julia Roberts On Her Children Being “Time Thieves”
February 17th, 2009
As a fulltime stay-at-home mom for the past year, Julia Roberts says life outside the Hollywood spotlight has been anything but uneventful – thanks to her three children.
“I will never be bored again,”] Julia, 41, told Allure for its March issue.
“Danny and I talk about, ‘What did we do with all the time we must have had?’ ” she said. “Because you don’t recognize it as such, until you have all these little … time thieves running around your house.”
Julia shared that due to her children – twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 4, and another son, Henry, 20 months – she has become creative in using home remedies when it comes to removing a splinter.
“We get a lot of splinters in our house,” said Julia.
“A splinter is just a good light, a pair of tweezers and a lot of singing songs and passing the time: La-la-la, now listen, if you eat all of your dinner It’s distraction and extraction.”
The domesic Julia admitted that her life at home is a juggling act, and while “it can lose its luster a little bit,” the key to her happy marriage and family is affection.
“The coolest thing you can do for your children is to love each other in their presence,” she said. “I’m the luckiest girl in town, I really am.”
On the key to beauty Julia shared the following:
The key to beauty is always to be looking at someone who loves you, really. One of my favorite things about my children right now, even Henry, who can’t say all the words…sometimes he’ll see me and go, “Ma-ma!” and throw himself on me. Or Finn says he likes my earrings. Or Hazel will say, “You look pretty, Mama,” first thing in the morning. And I realize, that’s all my husband. They’re seeing the things that he does and the way that he shares his feelings with me, and the way that I share my feelings with him. The coolest thing you can do for your children is to love each other in their presence.
The following pic says, “I don’t ever have to vacuum!” Just kidding!

She looks awesome and I agree with loving your spouse in front of the kids and showing each other respect–they learn from example.

Great picture of her, I am glad she has a happy family after having a huge role in breaking up her husband’s first marriage, she doesn’t seem to have any regrets about that, she went after what she wanted and got him. I like her as an actress, don’t care for her as a human being.

Wow, that is the most beautiful quote, “The coolest thing you can do for your children is to love each other in their presence.” I so agree. So few parents show any affection around their children! So few! I am not talking a full-on kissing and pawing display, but you should touch each other, compliment each other and show love around your kids; it is the only way they learn real, true love.

[...] the world will be knocking each other over in the rush to see who else can score a portrait from Julia’s first cover pic and interview in, oh, I don’t know, millions of years. (There may be one small hitch: I seem to recall that [...]

Some of you blame Julia for her husbands fiest marriage breakup. whether she did or didn’t isn’t really anyones business. For all we know there were problems in the marriage before Julia came along. Maybe she just happened to be at the right place at the right time so to speak. We don’t know what really happened there. Unless you were a fly on the wall you don’t know anything. Why is it that the “other waman” is always the one to get the blame. I think it should be the guy who is at blame. He was the one that was married and strayed. I didn’t hear anything about Julia holding a gun to his head threatening him if he didn’t leave his wife and marry her. The problems were most likely already there and didn’t surface until it became evident that he was with Julia. But again I will say it is/ was no ones business.
