Angelina Jolie’s doctor says that her twins may take a few more weeks to arrive.
Doctor Michel Sussmann said Angelina is doing fine. He spoke at a short news conference Wednesday in Nice, where Angelina is hospitalized. Asked when Angelina is expected to have her twins, he replied “in the weeks to come.”
Michel Sussmann stressed that Angelina checked into the hospital to be kept under surveillance, not because of any medical emergency.
“[Angelina’s] hospitalization at this stage of her pregnancy is strictly normal for someone who underwent a caesarean in her first pregnancy.”
Saying that Angelina’s “very, very nice,” the doctor added, “She will stay in the hospital until the birth. I will stay with her…Brad and Angelina want everyone to know that everything is going well.”
What he was not specific about was the due date. “This is something you can’t program, you never know for sure. I can’t give you a date. Let’s say the birth will happen in the weeks to come.” he said.
“Angelina’s pregnancy has gone very well so far, and she has absolutely no problems at all,” obstetrician Dr. Michel Sussman told E! News.
“But she still has at least two or three weeks to go until she gives birth, and she’ll most certainly be staying in the hospital until after she gives birth.”

UPDATE:
Angelina’s obstetrician, Dr. Michel Sussman, is scheduled to hold a news conference later this afternoon. (11:30 a.m. EST)
“Madame Jolie’s doctor will be updating her condition at the hospital and giving medical details,” said Nadine Bauer. “Madame Jolie is doing very well.”
It is unclear if Angelina, 33, has given birth.
According to local newspaper Nice Matin, Angelina is staying on the hospital’s fifth floor which features an “unobstructed view” over the Bay of Angels. (She reserved four rooms on the maternity ward, with a bodyguard keeping watch, the report claims.)
The paper reports that Angelina arrived, via helicopter, Sunday afternoon on the hospital’s roof.
Brad Pitt was spotted leaving the Lenval hospital in Nice today (July 2nd) where Angelina Jolie is awaiting the birth of their twins.
Angelina checked in last night for a pre-booked appointment in the maternity clinic.
Spokeswoman for the clinic, Nadine Bauer, said: ‘Ms. Jolie came to the hospital last night as part of a preplanned rest period, before she gives birth.
‘The visit has been planned for a long time, there are no complications. She is just resting.’
The 33 year-old’s admittance has been planned for some time, according to the hospital.
Miss Bauer said although Angelina is expected to remain in medical care until she has the children she is not expected to give birth imminently.

Angelina’s long anticipated babies are expected to be delivered by French doctor Michele Sussmann and her U.S. gynecologist Jason Rothbart, who is due to fly to Europe later this week. Dr. Jason Rothbart delivered Shiloh by caesarean in Africa and interestingly, he also delivered Nicole Richie’s daughter Harlow Winter. And Tori Spelling’s son Liam and daughter Stella!
Nonetheless some news outlets prematurely announced the twins’ arrival yesterday.
At midday French website Closer claimed the exclusive that Angelina had given birth.
Last month Entertainment Tonight wrongly claimed that the children had been born.
Angelina Jolie has checked into a hospital in the south of France where she is expected to give birth to her twins, a hospital spokesman said Tuesday.
Nadine Bauer, press attache for the Lenval Hospital in Nice, said Angelina is fine and that everything is going well. She said Angelina’s admittance to the maternity wing had been planned for some time.
Nadine Bauer said the 33-year-old actress will almost certainly remain in the hospital until she gives birth. She said Angelina was admitted so she could be kept under normal surveillance — and is not expected to give birth immediately.
Nadine Bauer said Angelina was admitted recently but wouldn’t say exactly when.
“There’s no urgency. It’s been planned for a long time,” she said. “She’s very well. Everything is fine.”
Angelina has said that the babies are due in August. She and partner Brad Pitt have four children: Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.
The Brangelina clan has been settling into a new home in the south of France. They recently moved into the Miraval Estate villa in the French hamlet of Correns, in the Provence region.
A source familiar with the plans for the twins’ nursery said that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had a difficult time settling on a design for the room. Like many Hollywood couples, they initially consulted with representatives of Beverly Hills’ baby store Petit Tresor for a plan, but when Brad and Angelina couldn’t come to an agreement on theme, a psychic was brought in to settle on a plan.
“It’s totally true,” said a source familiar with the meeting. “The psychic was to determine the ‘vibe’ of the twins.”
Apparently it was determined the vibe was more girly than modern.
“Brad wanted a nursery filled with furniture with ‘clean lines’ — sort if ’60s modern and lots of natural wood colors and whites,” the source shared. “Angelina was much more interested in creating a classic European nursery.”
The end result: Petit Tresor got to work stocking the nursery with organza bassinets with pink bows, pink Versailles-style cribs with matching changing tables and armoires, and custom-made crystal chandeliers made in France. The source reported that the total cost of the nursery is actually less than what has been reported thus far. “(The reported) $140,000 is a bit high,” the source said. “It may only be about $100,000.”
This made me giggle! It is sort of hard to believe that Brad wouldn’t just concede to Angelina’s decorating wishes! I mean…things got so tense that a psychic had to be called in the settle things! Just kidding!
Angelina Jolie has talked candidly about her desire to continue expanding her family with Brad Pitt. But when the actress found out she was pregnant with twins, even she was taken aback.
“We weren’t expecting twins,” Angelina, 33, tells Entertainment Weekly in a new interview. “So it did shock us, and we jumped to six children quickly. But we like a challenge.”
With a house full of kids, Angelina says she needs help – so it’s a good thing there’s family around to pitch in. “Brad’s mom and dad are on standby to come out and help,” she says.
But the real focus, Angelina says, is making sure their other children – Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2 – feel included when their new siblings are born. Says Angelina: “They’re old enough to feel included to change diapers themselves, to feed bottles themselves, like if I pump into a bottle. We’re trying to find ways where it can be a fun group thing … Everybody gets special time so we can make sure we know where they’re at.”
As for how she’s handling being pregnant with twins, the actress tells EW she’s taking it easy and letting Brad handle all the heavy lifting – literally. “We’ve worked out a system where Brad just lifts the kids to me every time they want to come up,” she says. “I just don’t bend down. I’ll scream, ‘Honey!’ and he’ll come running and lift them up.”
And pregnancy has other benefits as well. “It’s great for the sex life,” she says. “It just makes you a lot more creative. So you have fun, and as a woman you’re just so round and full.”
Shiloh, 2, is finally coming around to accepting that she’s going to be a big sister and friends say it’s a big relief in the Jolie-Pitt household.
“It took her a while, but now she’s as excited as the rest of the family. She puts her hands on Angie’s stomach to feel the twins kick and she jumps back and starts grinning!”
Little Shiloh is taking other baby steps as well. The 2-year old has begun sleeping in a big-girl bed and is even almost potty trained.
“She’s got her pull-up diapers and tells Mom and Dad when she has to go to the bathroom. She’s trying to get the hang of it all on her own — just like she did with walking.”
