Busy Philipps & Husband Expecting Their First Child

Busy Philipps

Actress Busy Philipps and her husband, writer Marc Silverstein, are expecting their first child.

“We found out today it’s a little girl!” the former Dawson’s Creek star, 29, told Us magazine Tuesday at the Los Angeles opening of BLT Steak restaurant.

She is about five months along.

“I feel great!” she shared of being pregnant. “I’ve had, like, no morning sickness!”

Busy — who is godmother of Michelle Williams’ daughter, Matilda — says she may get some of the celeb tot’s hand-me-downs.

“Michelle’s going to send me a lot of stuff!” she said. “We’re very close.”

But Busy says Michelle won’t be her daughter’s godmother.

“She has her hands full with being a mother right now,” Busy told Us magazine.

She has called on Cloverfield star Lizzy Caplan to take on the duty.

“I’ve known her for a million years!” Busy said. “The cool thing about giving someone the godmother title is that it’s sort of practice for their own baby.”

Best Wishes!

The Oscars Tonight

Heath Ledger

The Oscars will air live tonight at 5PT/8ET. I used to watch them every now and then, but I am not THAT into them or anything. I checked out the nominations for the heck of it and hadn’t really seen ANY of the movies! I really wanted to see Juno and Atonement and hopefully will soon, I tried to watch Gone Baby Gone just a few days ago upon hearing a lot of people talk about it. People were getting into deep discussions over what they would have done. So I was curious and I like Ben Affleck (he directed the film) so I really wanted to see it, but it was SOOOO depressing and just too much to stomach. The little girl looked so much like little Madeleine McCann and that was just too much to take. My kids though have seen Ratatouille and loved it, so I hope that wins for Animated Feature Film. :)

Anyway, The Barbara Walters Special looks good. I know that Miley Cyrus will be on it. I am too old to understand that phenomenon, but it certainly does seem to be quite a phenomenon! The other people that Barbara will be sitting down with will be Ellen Page (the star of Juno), Vanessa Williams and Harrison Ford.

Note: Please don’t get mad at me for the picture of Heath and Michelle. I didn’t want to use a generic picture of the Oscar golden statue…I thought this pic of Heath and Michelle at the 2006 Oscars was so sweet.

Michelle Williams’ Last Interview Before Heath Ledger’s Death

Michelle Williams

Before Heath Ledger’s tragic death last month, Michelle Williams sat down with British magazine Wonderland. The issue has just hit newsstands.

In the interview, Michelle, 27, briefly opens up about her split from Heath, as well as how daughter Matilda, 2, has changed her life.

Eerily, she also talks about shooting a movie, where she pays a woman grieving over the loss of her husband.

ON SPLITTING WITH HEATH

“When you’re in a relationship with somebody who is also a public personality then it doubles the attention from the media. When you minus that equation it’s just less enticing. That’s been a real bonus. It’s the plus side of the break-up for me. It was so pervading, it got bad there for a while. Every time I walk out of the door I still worry. That’s what is so silly about it: even if the paparazzi aren’t there, you wonder if they are. I’m not good at that stuff. I need to get better at it. It really used to affect me.”

ON HOW MOTHERHOOD HAS CHANGED HER

“I feel like I didn’t have any relationship with my body before Matilda. Well, I did, but it was just a bad one. After having my daughter I can’t judge myself in the same way. My body has done this totally miraculous but utterly ordinary thing. The downside is that my vocabulary has shrunk to the size of a pea. Since having a kid I just don’t have the same access to the world. I don’t see as many shows, I don’t go to many movies and I hardly read any books anymore. I’m lucky to make it through a book a month. So you start to develop in a much more non-verbal way, which can be so frustrating. Also there’s been a lot going on in my personal life and part of me is… I don’t know. I shouldn’t talk about it but it’s like I’m re-emerging back into the world or something.”

ON BALANCING WORK AND MOTHERHOOD

“It’s not easy. Last April I was over in London doing a movie called Incendiary with Ewan McGregor. It’s about a woman grieving after losing her husband and son in a terrorist attack. It was a brutal role and arduous: six-day weeks, 14 hour-days. I was like the walking dead towards the end. Matilda would visit me everyday on-set for lunch and I’d race home to put her to bed. My only days off were Sundays and as much as I’d want to pass out, I’d try to take her out somewhere fun so she didn’t associate me with boredom. The only time that is really my own these days is after I’ve put her to bed and until I go to bed. That’s about two hours.”

ON LOOKING FORWARD TO HER 30s

“I don’t really have a concept of my 30s. Obviously so much has changed for me in the last few months that I don’t really have an idea of what my life is going to be. I thought I knew certain things and it turned out that I didn’t so I don’t really try and anticipate so much anymore. I’m not making any bets on the future. I feel like I’m just starting to catch up to my age. 27 years old sounds about right now. For a long time I didn’t really relate to my age because I was working so much when I was 16 and I had a child at 24. I always felt way too young for my situation. Now it’s starting to even out.”

ON BEING A WORKAHOLIC

“Sometimes I wonder but I’m very happy at home just reading a book or pottering about. I love domestic life. I’m really my mother’s daughter. I like needlepoint, folding laundry and baking bread. I can be happy doing that stuff for a long time. But right now the work is so good and the opportunities are so remarkable - they’re what I’ve always hoped for - that it’s hard to pass up. You always wonder how long the good roles will keep coming.”

ON BEING AN INTROVERT

“It’s a generalization but actors are either extroverts or introverts, it’s true. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about why I act because I think of myself as more of an introvert. I embarrass easily. I have such problems with people looking at me. So I think, ‘Why do I do this to myself? Why do I do something so public?’ But I never expected it to be this public. It does seem like a funny choice for somebody who doesn’t really like attention.”

ON GROWING UP ON TV

“I was 16 when I started. It’s a strange record to have of those awkward years. It was a very important time for my personal development. When I came onto that show I didn’t have any taste or values. Doing that show gave me self-esteem and my work ethic. But, weirdly enough, it also gave me some privacy to develop my ideas about who I was as an actress and what I did and did not want to do.”

ON SKIPPING KATIE HOLMES’ WEDDING

“Everybody wants to know that. No, I didn’t go because I was working on The Tourist. To be honest, we’re not really in touch.”

Michelle Williams Finds Healing At Heath Ledger’s Intimate Funeral

Heath Ledger

Here Michelle was snapped at Heath’s funeral yesterday, clutching Heath’s older sister Kate’s hand for support.

What started out as a subdued wake after Heath Ledger’s funeral ended in an emotional goodbye by mourners including Michelle Williams, who all took a plunge into the ocean as the sun began to set.

“It’s exactly what Heath would have wanted,” one mourner told People magazine, dripping wet in his underwear as he made his way out of the water.

An unidentified man led Michelle by the hand, followed by several guests, who walked down the stairs behind the Indiana Tea House on Cottesloe Beach, the site of the wake and one of Heath’s favorite spots.

At least 50 people attending the wake ran onto the beach and many began to take off their clothes. While some women took the plunge in their black dresses, other men and women stripped down to just their underwear and jumped into the ocean.

Michelle, still wearing her cream-colored sundress and black sunglasses, was briefly dragged into the water as everyone cheered. She was then quickly surrounded by a group of mourners, creating a protective circle around the actress.

Those in the water laughed and cheered as Michelle watched from the shore. Heath’s sister Kate also took a dive into the water and was surrounded by pals splashing around her while her father Kim Ledger watched from the restaurant’s balcony and shouted, “Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!” giving two thumbs up in the air.

As the sun began to set, the swimmers came on shore and stood in a line on both sides of Michelle and linked arms. In the last five minutes, as the sun moved toward the horizon, the mourners stood in silence, watching and embracing.

Michelle hugged Kate Ledger and smiled as she watched the sunset at 8:15 p.m., local time.

Two mourners in the group summoned up the moment as they stood behind Michelle.

“The sun goes down on our love,” they said. “But it will never go down on Heathy.”

Michelle left the wake with Heath’s mother Sally Ledger Bell and her husband Roger Bell at 9:20 p.m., local time. Sally Ledger Bell held on to Michelle as they got into a black SUV. Once inside, Sally rested her head on Michelle’ shoulder as the car drove away.

What a beautiful sounding ceremony.

Earlier Saturday afternoon Heath’s remains were cremated.

Following a memorial at Penrhos College for hundreds of mourners, Michelle Williams, escorted by police, arrived with a small entourage of Heath’s closest family for a more intimate service at Fremantle Cemetery, just outside Perth, Australia. The chapel at Fremantle, which was blacked out with sheets and scaffolding, has only eight wooden pews and a lectern.

There, Michelle read William Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18 (“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?”).

“It was a very emotional service,” a source told People magazine.

Less than an hour after arriving, the mourners were spotted putting their arms around a clearly distressed Michelle and hugging the chaplain in gratitude as they departed.

From there, they headed to the Indiana Tea House on Cottesloe Beach, where attendees from the earlier memorial could be seen smoking and drinking beer and red and white wine on the patio of the establishment, which has a spectacular view of the ocean. Michelle was visibly shaken and looked like she had just been crying when she entered the restaurant.

Michelle Williams Tells Matilda: “Daddy Went Away”

Heath Ledger

Sources say it is Michelle’s love for their 2-year-old daughter that is providing the strength as she mourns Heath’s untimely death.

“Michelle was always really vulnerable, so this has shaken her quite a bit,” a friend of Michelle’s told Us Weekly in its latest issue, on newsstands now. “She’s mourning and trying to figure out what to do next.”

Matilda, though, “is too young” to know the heartbreaking reason why her father isn’t around anymore.

“Michelle and the family are showering Matilda with love right now to cushion it so she isn’t really aware,” a source close the family told Us Weekly.

The source adds: “Michelle basically told Matilda, ‘Daddy went away.’ Matilda still doesn’t grasp it.”

So sad…

Cause Of Heath Ledger’s Death Determined

Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger’s death on January 22nd was due to an accidental mixture of prescription drugs, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner for the City of New York has concluded.

“Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine,” said an announcement released Wednesday morning by office spokesperson Ellen Borakove.

“We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications,” the two-paragraph statement said in its entirety.

Heath, 28, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on January 22nd. Authorities said at the time that they did not suspect foul play but that medication was found near the body.

An initial autopsy was deemed inconclusive in determining the cause of death, it was announced on January 24th.

Heath had six prescription drugs, including anti-anxiety medications and sleeping pills, unnamed police sources told the Associated Press.
