Brooke Burke On Her Lack Of Sleep

Brooke Burke continues to impress with her stunning beauty and amazing talent on Dancing With The Stars, but the rigorous training and performing combined with being a mother-of-four is taking its toll. Below is Brooke’s latest blog entry:

Hi,

I’m at rehearsal right now, waiting to shoot the results show. The energy at our studio is quite different on Tuesdays as all of us await our future on the show. I am committed to keeping my vibe light and fun although I think the judges were hard on everyone last night. I am relieved that the Paso Doble is behind me now because my whole body hurts from the intense training this week. At this point, anyone could be leaving the show, and I really hope it’s not Derek and me. Please keep voting so we can keep dancing.

I’m walking to the stage now. Wish me luck!

BTW, I am getting desperate for sleep. I’m thinking about a sleep nurse to train Shaya and Rain to sleep through the night. I have never done that with any of my babies, and I’m not sure it feels right. Here is a site that I am looking into for sleep specialists – www.sleepyplanet.com.

Any thoughts about sleepless nights? I sure wish they would go away…..

Brooke

Hang in there Brooke!

Brooke also shared that her daughters are as impressed with her amazing dancing as the judges on Dancing With The Stars and everyone else!

“They love it! They love watching me all glammed out in the costumes,” Brooke, 37, told Us magazine after Monday’s show. “When I come home, my 2-year-old says, ‘Dance, dance!’”

Brooke has two children (daughter Heaven, 20-months-old, and son Shaya, 6-months-old) with fiance David Charvet and two daughters (Neriah, 8, and Sierra, 6) from a previous relationship.

Her youngest daughter Heaven loves her professional partner Derek Hough.

“It’s so cute,” Brooke told Us magazine. “I Tivo it – she doesn’t really get it, but she knows that Mommy is dancing with Derek. It’s so sweet.”

Added Brooke, “It’s really inspiring the kids to see dedication and hard work, and I think it is going to be a really great experience for them.”

David Charvet Blogs About Brooke Burke On Dancing With The Stars & Putting On A Puppet Show For His Children

(Above is a pic of David Charvet and Brooke Burke’s daughter Heaven Rain, 20-months-old and son Shaya Braven, 6-months-old)

David Charvet made a sweet blog post titled “A Post from Poppa D” on September 27th:

Brooke is off to rehearsal, She’s trying to learn a new dance routine, in only four days, the Paso Doble. The pressure on her is brutal, but I know she can do it!

As I sit with my two youngest children on Saturday morning, I shared the most beautiful moment with them.  It’s just them and me, all alone. I shared the most beautiful moment with them this morning.

I put one of my older girls’ slipper puppets on my hand and started to interact with Rain and Shaya. They were so excited about our new guest. They were laughing, screaming and giggling! This was the first time I saw them holding hands and actually connecting. It was special.  We had a real conversation and shared a moment I will never forget.

Sometimes I try so hard to work and provide for my family that I forget how much more important these moments are. To all the fathers out there, I know it is hard, but try the slipper puppet game.

It is a beautiful way to start your morning!

Best,

David

Brooke Burke’s Latest Blog Entry

Brooke Burke

Brooke opened up about her sleep deprivation in her latest blog entry:

Hi Everyone,

We are finally settled in our home.  Shaya just turned 3 months old, and I feel like I have just surfaced.  I am so sorry that I have not blogged in months.  Any of you who have already had your baby know where I am coming from!  Anyway, Shaya’s naps are getting longer, and my nighttime sleep intervals have gone from 2 hours to 4, thank God!  The other day I googled sleep deprivation and I had no idea how responsible my sleepless nights were for everything I had been feeling.  It effects your memory, metabolism, and of course patience for everyone in your family.  I am happy to say it does get better, so hang in there new moms.

Last month was pregnancy awareness month and I was asked to speak on a panel about the work/life balance.  I was invited to speak to hundreds of other working moms about how I do it. I had to laugh to myself as I thought of what a metaphor the topic is. Balancing motherhood and a career is my most challenging thing.  I have realized in my experience that there is no right or wrong way to rear your children, and I had a hard time giving advice on “how to do it”. I have learned a lot from other moms, but I focus most on figuring out what works best for my family. I know that everything is curable with love.  I tried to encourage moms to do the best they can and give themselves a break on the days when it doesn’t seem good enough. I also have to admit that I am a different mom the fourth time around.  I think that is because there is a lot less of me to devote to all of them after you do the math.  I am also starting to go back to work and there is always the guilt when I have to spend all day away from my babies. Somehow, it all works out, even though there is no perfect way.

I just designed a new product for the store.  I have been using it to work out and lose the rest of my belly inches.  It’s like Tauts but made out of neoprene. It is called Baboosh Body Sport and it is to be worn while you exercise.  The fabric will make your core area sweat like crazy!!!!  Great news, it is for Dads too.

Love, Brooke

Awwww! What GORGEOUS pics! Alessandra, 27, and boyfriend Jamie Mazur look very happy!

The seven-months-pregnant Alessandra celebrated her first baby shower in LA on June 2nd. It was hosted by Jamie’s family. Her second baby shower was held at Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City on June 7th. However during the event due to defects in the air conditioning system, the room temperature rose up to 85 degrees. Since it was cooler outside, the party moved to the rooftop. Alessandra and Jamie, who are reportedly expecting a girl in late August, had an amazing time, reported a source. Alessandra said that she hopes that she can participate in the upcoming Victoria’s Secret fashion event in Miami on November 16th and start working again.

Alessandra has reportedly decided that her daughter will be born in Florianopolis, Brazil and she plans to have another baby shower in her parent’s home in Erechim, in Rio Grande do Sul, on July 19th. Alessandra has not yet decided on the name for her baby, but reportedly on the list of her favorites is the name Anja (“Angel” in Portuguese).

Below Alessandra was snapped at her June 7th baby shower trying out her Blue Couture Peanut Shell baby sling. She had personally requested one.

Brooke Burke Finally Names Her Son & Her Latest Blog Entry!

Brooke Burke

Nearly a month after giving birth to her son, Brooke Burke and her fiancé David Charvet have finally settled on a name for their son: Shaya.

“You heard it here first! We have finally settled on a name,” Brooke wrote on her Baboosh blog. “We waited our whole lives for our son, and couldn’t find the perfect fit. Poor guy! Now it’s official. Shaya Charvet. We played with so many different names, and both loved Shaya the most. It means God’s gift in Hebrew.”

Still undecided though is Shaya’s middle name, but the couple is slowly making progress.

“David came up with a middle name, Braven, which I really like. I want to give him part of my name too, so I am thinking about double Bs in the middle like my initials, Braven-Burke.”

Shaya was born on March 5th and joins big sisters Neriah, 7, Sierra, 5, Brooke’s daughters from her first marriage to plastic surgeon Dr. Garth Fisher, and Heaven Rain, her 1-year-old with David. Being the first boy will guarantee Shaya some extra atttention, Brooke, 36, adds.

“He is the last Charvet to carry on David’s family name. He is also the first boy in David’s family, the little brother of three princesses, and my youngest. Ya think he is gonna be spoiled?!?! We haven’t agreed on the middle name yet, but for all those who have been asking, Shaya Charvet it is!”

And Brooke wrote the following on her blog today:

I started walking this week.  We have an amazing 4-mile hike through the mountains in our neighborhood.  David and I decided to do it together 3 times a week.  We put Rain and Shaya in our dbl stroller and together we work out for 1-½ hours.  Much of the walk is up hill, which is so tough, pushing the kids.  David does that part.  Once we head up the steepest hill, we can see an amazing view of Malibu?s coastline.  On a clear day, I can see across the ocean from Santa Monica, all the way to Catalina Island.  It is such a peaceful, calming and inspiring walk.  We both are totally sleep deprived, but the fresh air, challenge, and the accomplishment is so helpful to us.  I know, as a mother that time for us is the first thing to go.  I am making myself do this walk even on harder days because I am committed to not losing myself completely on this journey.  In that hour, I do a lot of thinking, I take my deepest breaths of the day, and I try to appreciate all the things in my life, both good and bad.  We usually walk in silence, which I really enjoy. When I reach the top of the mountain each time, I feel a sense of accomplishment for myself, besides the million other things I do in a day for everyone else.

I think that exercise is a great stress reliever, even in your most fatigued state of mind.  I will begin doing Pilates again as soon as my Dr. permits, but for now a simple walk is so great!

Shaya is mostly eating and sleeping these days, I had forgotten how uneventful the beginning really is.  Rain was going through a tough time, adjusting to a new baby that is taking mommy?s time.  She is getting better now, finally kissing him and innocently trying to shove his bottle in his mouth.  She is fussier than ever, but I am trying to love her struggles away.  Neriah and Sierra are two years apart and that was much easier than the 14 months that separate Rain and Shaya.  We are all hanging in there. I sometimes cannot believe the site of my family of SIX!

Brooke Burke & David Charvet Still Haven’t Named Their Son!

Brooke Burke

Brooke Burke and fiancé David Charvet are still in tense negotiations regarding naming their son!

“We’ve waiting our whole life for a son, and we haven’t named him,” Brooke told People magazine at Tuesday’s Architectural Digest Harry Benson photography retrospective in West Hollywood. “He did leave the hospital without the birth certificate. I know that’s terrible!”

Now, nearly three weeks after giving birth, the couple may be close to agreeing on a name. “We’re really, really close to a name,” said Brooke, 36. “We’ve agreed on the first and the last, and we’re still fighting on the middle.”

The newborn joins the couple’s daughter, Rain, 1, and Brooke’s two girls – Neriah, 7, and Sierra, 5 – from a previous marriage.

“Going from two to three was easy. Going from three to four, a whole other world,” a weary-eyed Brooke said at Tuesday’s event, where she and David enjoyed a date-night out.

In fact, admitted, “We’re so sleep-deprived right now, we can both barely see straight.”

Wow! That’s amazing that they haven’t named their son yet! They must both have a name that they really want!
