Catherine, 39, has admitted that she gets angry if she misses a mealtime.

“I’m pretty easy-going, which comes from all those years of doing theatre. I’m not a grandiose movie star at all, but I do like to know when lunch is going to be,” she said.

“It’s really important because I get the shakes when my blood-sugar levels start to drop. If I don’t get food when I should, I get upset,” she stated.

And her anger is not limited to food, as Catherine also revealed that her children – Dylan, 8, and Carys, 5, - know never to cross her because she can be strict.

“I’ve realized that you can actually say what you need to say and people can tell a lot from my tone of voice. My kids know when I raise my finger or do ‘the eyes’ that I mean business. I don’t put up with much. I’m kind to everybody. But if you cross me, you know,” she added.

Catherine, 39, and husband Michael Douglas were snapped at the United Nations Association Global Leadership Awards Gala at The Waldorf Astoria in New York City on October 1st. Catherine looks stunning as always!

Catherine has confessed that her cooking skills are so bad that once she almost set the kitchen on fire!

She said, “I’m a terrible cook. I can microwave chicken nuggets well. This is a true story – I actually burnt a pan once. There wasn’t a fire but it was smoking and I got a little scared. So that was the first and last time I tried to cook.”

It is refreshing to hear Catherine speak so honestly of her lack of Martha Stewart ambitions. Though mastery of the kitchen and all things domestic is very wonderful, sometimes it gets a little tiring to hear the likes of Katie Lee Joel, Gwyneth Paltrow and Victoria Beckham wax poetic about their passion for cooking and baking all sorts of gourmand creations. It is especially frustrating as I don’t believe for one second that they actually eat any of the food they prepare, and they probably prepare one meal a month while all the rest are prepared by personal chefs! :)

Being the grandson of Kirk Douglas and the son of two Academy Award winners it’s no surprise that Dylan Douglas, 8,  has expressed an interest in acting. 

Catherine has revealed that when her son decided to take up acting classes, he wanted to make sure that his teacher knew just how much potential he had.

“My son went to his first drama lesson and he turned to his teacher and said, ‘Don’t worry, I’m a really good actor. It’s in my genes’,” she shared.

Catherine has revealed that she and Michael have kept their son Dylan, 7, and daughter Carys, 5, so sheltered from fame that they think their dad is a chef.

“Dylan was doing occupations at school recently and the teacher said, ‘You have to go home and ask Mummy and Daddy what they do’,” explained Catherine. “So we were trying to explain to Dylan that we make movies, and he went to Michael, ‘Hang on. Mama makes movies, you make pancakes!’.”

“So my two-time Oscar-winning husband with a career of 40 years looks at me and says, ‘Oh, it’s come to that!’,” she laughed.

The couple have chosen to bring up their children away from Hollywood, opting instead to make a Bermuda hideaway their permanent home. “For me, it was the ideal choice,” said Catherine.
